Yeah Yeah Yeahs “It’s Blitz” review…

I have to admit, when I opened the March 2009 issue of Spin Magazine, whose cover stars were the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fronted by a horrifically leather and spiked clad Karen O, I was a bit nervous for the trio’s upcoming release which vowed to “bring back dance rock”.

Bored at home I decided to do a couple new recordings…

THUNDER (KEEP IT ON THE BROWNLOWE HOWL MIX):

Jon and I are working on a new Swallows album and I decided to free flow some vocals over one of our instrumental tracks.

MOMENTS

[DOWNLOAD]
I wish the moon would shine forever
So you can stare in wonderment
I wish the moon would shine forever
Your face lights up upon it’s gaze

These are the moments that I think of the most

I wish the ducks would swim forever
We can watch them as they play
I wish the birds would sing forever
A song for me, a song for you

These are the moments that I think of the most

I wish we didn’t have to get out of bed
Our love is warm and the world is cold
I wish we didn’t have to get out of bed
Our love is warm and the world is cold!

These are the moments that I think of the most

“WHEN THEY COME FOR US” ON MT TABOR

Swallows is working on a new album, Between The Sea And Sky.… The music has been recorded by Kipp Crawford and I decided to engineer my own vocals.

To get some privacy and take in a bit of nature, I turned the Swallows van into a recording studio and recorded the vocals on top of Portland’s Mt Tabor.

Here is a clip of me singing “When They Come For Us”

Hear an exclusive, unmastered version of the real deal (w/ Jon Miller on drums/tamborine and Kipp Crawford on the snare):

EAGLE AND TALON

Los Angeles based avant-pop band, Eagle and Talon rolled through Portland last night. I’ve been following them for a few years now and their sound has progressed into the jagged art rock realm with a post riot grrrl reference to Call The Doctor era Sleater Kinney.

Watch my video footage of their song “All Of My Guardians” off their upcoming full length, Thracian:

My latest music project is called THE CATCH with my good friend, Sarah-Ruth. After years of dust, I’m re-teaching myself how to play a Casio CTK-611. Together we create dance worthy songs that are reminiscent of a lo-fi version of The Knife getting wasted with the Kills making yellow snow in starstruck streets.
